Child Enrichment Inc., was established in 1977 by a group of physicians, nurses and social workers to help abused children overcome their experience and rebuild their lives. In 1978, an emergency shelter was the first of many services to be developed for abused children. Later in 1995, the organization merged with The Augusta Child Advocacy Center, adding comprehensive child advocacy services.
Child Enrichment has helped over 12,000 abused, abandoned and neglected children since opening its doors to our community's children. The children we serve have different backgrounds, races, religious beliefs and experiences. We have three separate and distinct programs within our organization, which are designed to meet the varied needs of abused children. Our three programs include: The Shelter Program, The Child Advocacy Center and The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program.
The Child Advocacy Center is accredited by the National Children's Alliance, and provides Forensic Interviewing of children suspected of having been sexually abused. Expert court testimony and court advocacy for the victim are provided when alleged perpetrators are charged with sex crimes against children. Counseling for the victims, their siblings and non-offending caregivers is provided free of charge.
